i have a lump on top of my penis about half way up it causes irritation

Hey, im twenty years old. i have a lump on top of my penis (under the skin). it is about half way up the shaft and seems to be on a bone or tendon or whatever is running laterally up the shaft. it causes slight irritation. it has been present for about a year or so, but recently has begun causing irritation. up until now it has been painless. just wanting to know if you had any idea if it was something i needed to get checked out. thanks

Anytime there is a change like this, particularly if it causes you irritation or concern, it is good to have it looked at. Here is some information that might help you ask all the right questions when it's time to see your doctor.

 

In checking your symptom in the symptoms database located here, the recommendation is to see your doctor because the lump could be a mild skin irritation, or something as serious as warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV)
