What are the chances of prostate cancer returning, prostate gland removed, no problems
Hi Gerry,
You might be able to find out more from one of Dr. Greenstein's posts - Rising PSA after Surgery.
0.1 is still a very low reading, but it's important to keep retesting often, as a steadily increasing PSA after prostatectomy can be a sign that the cancer is not totally wiped out. Check back with your doctor to get advice on how often you should retest, and the PSA levels at which he would advise restarting treatement.
Hope this helps,
Dan
.. depends on your pre/post treatment pathology. IF your pre-treatment PSA was low, and the post-treatment pathology was encapsulated, no margins, no seminal vesicle invasion, no lympnode invasion, then you have probably a 97% chance of cure. Check out the nomograms at Sloane Kettering Hospital. They have an online tool that you can enter your parameters and get an estimate.
