Q: What are tests for bloody semen?

For about 6 months now my semen seems to be mostly blood.  Semen production is also extremely low.  So far my prostate was checked, I had blood tests and urine tests for red and white blood cell counts, blood and protein in urine, and gonorrhea and chlamydia.  All tests were normal.  My doctor thinks the next step should be intrarectal ultrasound and testicular ultrasound.  What is being looked for? What are the possibilities in my case?

I'm 55, have slightly elevated cholesterol and my blood pressure is a little high.  I'm not currently taking any medications and am otherwise in very good shape.
