    I'm 38 and have an enlarged prostate.  But after visits to several urologists over the years, it seems the root cause for me -- and for many others -- is diet.

    Suggest your father cut the following from his diet for 1 month (1000% strict):

    * Caffeine (including decaf coffees and teas)

    * Chocolate

    * Spicy food

    * Ginger

    * Alcohol

    and see if it helps.

    Also, you may be able to find a special "Sitz bath" that is fixed to the toilet that allows you to soak the prostate without getting into the tub.
