Q: I am 65 and last year my PSA was 3.5 this year it is 5 is this reason for concern. Can you tell me what normal levels for ages are.

The rise in the PSA is a relatively small rise, however it is of concern. The rate of change of PSA is one of the more sensitive indicators for the detection of prostate cancer and this is a rise that should be further evaluated. A visit to a Urologist will probably result in a prostate biopsy.

If you have a Prostate Biopsy will they give you anestisia to put you out.
