Q: After radiotherapy, what remains in the body in the location of the prostate?

After the completion of radiotherapy, what remains in the body in the location of the prostate?

Radiation, unlike surgery, does not eradicate prostate tissue. After radiation therapy, the prostate is still present. Radiation causes damage to cells by damaging the DNA of the cell. Normal cells are able to correct this damage, whereas cancerous cells can not do this, thus shrinking or eliminating the tumors.
