Q: is it normal for a bph condition and after TURP to have reocouring infections in the prostrate

.I had an infection when my bph started and have had it for 3 years. The doctor treated me with Cipro 1000 mg.once a day for 3 days.

Worked well symptoms went away on taking the first pill. however after a few days

the sympoms came back again.  He recomended TURP to releive my night time urinationg up to 5 times a night. After Turp my urinating improved once a night average .However I have a small amout of pain when I first begin to urinate. My PSa is normal now 1.5 it use to be 3.9 when I was first tested. This has been going on and off for about 1 year.

Finally my doctor gave me an other prescription APO sulfatrim Ds . I am to take them twice a day,for 6 weeks. It has been 2 weeks and the symptoms are going away.

It seems to me that my infection was never  cured during this time  with taking cipro especially with taking only 3 pills for 3 days.

My question is is this infection going to come back after the 6 weeeks of tratment??

and

Taking these pills for relief of these symptoms  should they occure on an ongoing basis goint to create other health problems.

Also my prostrate is so sensitive that I cant have not even one glass of wine or a cofee

without agravating the prostrate.
