Q: My Dad had prostate cancer about 7 yrs ago his prostate moved and no other treatment

His PSA count is now rising again and his doctors feel there is cancer somewhere.  He has had a nuclear scan and bone scan both negative.  They are going to look at his past pathology report to see what type of cancer he had previously so they know what course of treatment to take.  I guess I've never heard of having a course of treatment if you don't know what area or type of cancer you have.  Like is it liver, kidney etc?  Also can you have a PSA count when you dont' have a prostate?   Please advise your thoughts.

Depending on your dads age, PSA value, and overall medicat condition treatment may be useful. However, if he is extremely old, an his PSA not very high, treatment not be of any benefit.  Unfortunately, I need more information in order to answer this.
