Q: my 17 yr old son has had intermittent pain in the head of his penis for the past few months?

There are no visible symptoms. Lab work for possible STDs is negative. An ER dr. said it most be nothing b/c he couldn't see anything. The family dr. suggested OTC creams (gold bond, cruex), etc., but they do not help and sometimes cause more irritation according to my son.  Lately he said he feels a small "bump" just inside the urethra (very tip); he said it felt like something might be in there?

Note: This started in July (2008) right after a trip to the a friend's Bay house. Several of the kids swam in a cove that did not appear very clean, then sat around most of the day in wet bathing suits. One of his friends said he experienced some problems as well, and claimed that his dr. said it was a 'fungal infection'?  (I have no details as to how it was treated).

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
