Q: Fluctuating PSA numbers that go up and down.

I will be 74 on my next birthday. My PSA numbers are as follows: 2/ 02, 6.9; 5/02, 5.7; 12/02, 6.3; 6/03, 6.9; 8/04, 5.2; 6/05, 6.7; 11/06, 7.7; 5/07, 8.4; 11/07, 8.2; 2/08, 9.3; 6/08, 9.6; 10/08, 9.1.  I had a biopsy in March of 2001 that turned out negative.

As you can see the numbers go up and down, do not go up consistently. What does this mean?
