Hi Cara,

Thank you for your question! Avodart does not have any known adverse effects with respect to catartacts. In several case reports, patients who had been taking an alpha blocker (either Uroxatral or another another medication in the same class) experienced intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (a complication of cataract surgery that does not usually affect the overall outcome of the surgery) during cataract surgery. However, the association between alpha blockers and the floppy iris syndrome is unknown at this time, and discontinuing the alpha blocker before surgery does not appear to reduce the risk of having floppy iris syndrome. I hope this answers your question!

Best of luck,

Casey
