Does taking a regularPSA indicate any recurrence of cancer after you've had a radical prostatectomy.

My husband a radical prostatectomy for advanced prostate cancer.  He did have some lymph node and nerve involvement.  His doctor recommends regular PSA tests.  If there is a recurrence of cancer in that area, does the PSA show that?
