No pressure at the end of urination
Recently, I have been having an issue with a lack of pressure at the end of my urinations. Everything seems fine until the end. About 1/4 of an ounce is left over in the pipes. I have to... how do I say... coax it up and out with my hands. This is not a lot of urine left over, but it causes a problem when I zip back up. Whatever is left slowly begins to drip... leaving a nice little wet spot on my pants. This is not good, especially when I'm at work and no way to change pants.
This was never an issue until recently (about 4-5 months). I am 34 and quite a bit overweight. I am wondering if this could be the beginning stages of an issue, perhaps prostate. Hopefully not, but I was wondering if this is a common issue. Usually when I go to the doctor, mechanic, or whoever, all I hear is Hmmm, that's unusual.
Hey Bobbo-
Thanks for your question. I've passed it along to one of the doctors on our site, and we'll let you know when a response has been posted. Please keep in mind that we can't diagnose over the Internet or offer medical advice.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan thanks for your assistance.
I realize that this is just a site for suggestions and advise, but I'm sick and tired of paying doctors to look at me and say, "Hmmm... that's odd, I don't know what could be causing that." One of the times, I had numbness on the surface of my skin in a few places that under certain motions or movements caused pain like my skin was being ripped open. First it was on my back by my shoulder blade and just below my belly button, then it happened under my arm. The "Specialist" had no clue whatsoever, but I still had to pay for him to do absolutely nothing for me.
I am an Electrician. Imagine if I went to someone's house for a trouble call and said, "I don't know why your lightes are flickering and I can't fix it, but here is your bill."
All I am really looking for is someone to let me know if this throws any "red flags" or not. I will gladly pay a Doctor for services rendered, and don't want to hold out on going to a Doc. if I really should be going.
Thanks again,
Bobbo

Normally the flow rate does dissipate at the end of urination. What you are describing is post-void dribbling. Milking the urethra manually is one means of treating this. When done urinating, try to pass your penis between two of your fingers and exert some pressure beginning at the base of the penis and proceeding towards the tip. This may help to drain the last bits of the urine from the urethra. Attempting to restart a urinary stream after finishing urination may also be of some benefit.
If you are not circumcised, you can pull your foreskin back, and dry the tip of the penis. Some of this leakage may be a result of urine that is puddling inside the foreskin. Sitting down to void may also be beneficial. Getting you to relax while voiding may also be helpful. A simple behavioral modification technique by gently exhaling through a straw while voiding may also help to alleviate the problem.
If all these suggestions do not work, a visit to a urologist would be in order, and should include sonography to establish how much urine is truly left behind in the bladder after you have completed urination.

Thank you for your suggestions. I am circumcised, and there is no pooling in that area. The lack of pressure at the end is a new issue, I normally coax the urine from base to tip, but for some reason this has been no longer effective. I have to stand there about twice as long in order to ensure completion. I will attempt these suggestions and see a doctor if they don't help. Thanks again
