Q: My boyfriend have Unexplainable frequent urination problem, please advise.

I do understand that frequent and/or urgent urination could mean many things, therefore I'll give a brief history for the patient.  He is 30 years old, over all health is very good, active, a smoker, suffering from a miner stomach ulcer. We have done almost all the test that we were able to do and allowed to do to find answers, and still wasn't able to get any plausible explanation of what is the cause of the urination frequency. He had couple of STD tests done, the IGG and maybe the IGM too. All were negative for type 2 herpes and positive for type 1. negative for all other STD's we were told about. He had urine test done and came back clean, except for very small amount of blood in the urine sample. He also have a discharge and for no apparent reason. There is no burning when urinating and there are no blusters or visible lesions. He had a burning and tingling sensation in the back of the thigh for some time than it went away. He also had some burnings in the inner-thigh area, on and off (I should note that he had a nick injury few years back, and had a cyst removal operation on the buttocks which was repeated 4 times, last one was done first week of June, 09).

His doctor checked his prostate (using his fingers) and said he was fine. And ordered Urine culture, results showed everything to be normal.  The Dr. also check the testicles and said they were also fine.

The latest Iinfectious Disease Specialist he saw said that he has a gentle type1 Herpes and she concluded so because the frequent urination and she said he didn't have to have blisters to actually have type 1 gentle herpes. She also said that the number on his test for type1 was high means he had a recent exposure. However we were told by another Dr. that frequent urination without burning that will last for 53 days and counting is not one of the Herpes symptoms. The discharge is still visible

We believe that he might have been exposed to the virus during the cyst removal operations, if not earlier. He have done and STD test 5 weeks from the time period we though he was exposed to the virus
All test showed positive type 1 and negative type 2 Herpes. Also negative Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and Chlamydia.
Possible Exposure Date July 18, 2009

First Test Results // Date: July 22, 2009

HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec 4.72

Urinating problem continued for 54 Days --- Frequent Urination with no burning just Frequent Urination. It started July 18, 2009 and he still have it Sep 11, 2009

My Questions are:

- Could this be a Gentle type 1 Herpes? or any STD to began with?
- If this not an STD, would it be a male UTI
- Does he have HSV 2?
- Can you get HSV 1 from oral sex? And how likely is that?
- What are the symptoms of HSV 1 in the Gentile Area?
- Is it possible to get a blister inside the urethra, but not outside and wouldn't that cause a - - burning sensation when urinating?

- Is this a sign of kidney problems?

- When he see his Urologiest which would be more efficient, ultrasound or scoping?
- Could his Dr. have missed something in the prostate?

By posting this case I hope to get the answers we need to move forward and to help others in the same spot we are in to find answers too. We'll appreciate any professional help we can get on answering these questions. If you have no experience in the area please do not try to answer these question as it is hard to find a clear and logical explanation to what is going on. We had heard from all who claim they know what they doing and it only made matters worse and answer no questions we had.
