Q: Issues with having sex and drinking. Causes my urine and urethra to feel irritated.

Over the past two years I have been experiencing problems when drinking and having sex. It seems like everythime I drink and have sex my urethra feels irritated and the tip of my penis is all red. It doesnt burn or anything like that, it just feels irritated.  It starts feeling better after I relieve myself and drink a lot of water. This has been very frustrating because I went through every test possible, including a cystoscope and CT scans and they found nothing wrong. I also was put on Leviquin 500 mg for a month. Can you give me any advice or help with this?

There is not any link between the redness on the tip of the penis and alcohol consumption.  Perhaps when you are drinking, sexual activity may be somewhat more vigorous and minor trauma may be occurring to the tip of the penis.  When inebriated, alcohol can result it difficulties initiating urination, and may also be causing the urethral discomfort that you experience.
