Hi Ed,

Thanks for your question.  There is no hard and fast rule about when you should see a doctor about BPH symptoms, but letting your doctor know and starting treatment earlier rather than later might make your life much more comfortable.

You might consider taking our Online Prostate Checkup to see if your symptoms might be caused by something serious, and taking a look at the International Prostate Symptoms Score table to better classify the severity of your symptoms.

Keep in mind that there are a wide range of treatment options for BPH, ranging lifestyle changes to medication to surgery.  Only your doctor would be able to advise what might work best for you.

Hope this helps!

Dan
