DaVinci Procedure is the robotic technique for the radical surgical removal of a cancerous prostate. It utilizes the DaVinci Robot. In this procedure, a series of small openings (ports) are created along the lower abdominal wall . Through these ports, various surgical instruments are inserted into the abdominal cavity, and then these instruments are attached to the robot. The primary surgeon sits at a computer console, and manipulates their hands, which in turn control the arms of the robot that are attached to the surgical instruments.

Thanks for your question.  I've passed it along to one of the doctors on our site to see if he can offer a full picture of what the Da Vinci Procedure entails.

Thanks,

Dan
