Q: My brother had the prostate surgery and now has problems with scar tissue at the neck of the bladder. Would robotic surgery have prevented this? thanks!

My brother had the prostate surgery and now has problems with scar tissue at the neck of the bladder. Would robotic surgery have prevented this? thanks!

Scarring at the bladder neck, or a bladder neck contracture can occur with any form of prostate surgery. A robotic approach does not eliminate this complication from occurring. It can occur even in surgical techniques that are performed for benign disease.
