His psa dropped from over 1000 to 50 after his first treatment of zomeda and a shot of lupron. These treatments were started in September of 2007. His psa was contiunually dropping over the past few months. In December it was down to 2.....January it was 3...February it was 3...in March it has risen to 4. Is there any need for concern for this rise. He is also taking casadex daily. He is 58 years old.

Hi Dolphin,

It sounds like whatever your husband's doctor has prescribed is working for your husband. If you have questions about why the numbers are starting to rise again it would be best to ask the doctor. Here is some information to help you ask all the right questions.

You said your husband was on a medication called Casodex. Here is the information about Casodex, including uses and side effects. Dr Jay Motola wrote an article about Lupron and how the shots work. You can read about Dr Motola here and read the article about Lupron here. Apparently Zometa has been found to help prevent bone loss from prostate surgery. You can read a news article about that here.

I hope this information helps you when it's time to speak to your husband's doctor. Please stay in touch and let us know how you and your husband are doing.
