Q: I have an enlarged prostate. Had a TURP 3 years ago.

This is a very vague question. Avodart and Flomax are both medications that are used to treat prostatic enlargement (BPH). Avodart helps to shrink the volume of the prostate and is effective in about 60% of patients. Flomax helps relax the prostate and allows for the easier passage of urine, and reduce urinary residuals, and help diminish voiding overnight. Robotic surgery is not intended for BPH but is a procedure for the surgical treatment of prostate cancer.
