Q: Hello, I had a microscopic urinalysis done. my results.. WBC, URINE 2-5 RBC, URINE 3-5 EPITHELIAL CELLS, URINE SEDIMENT, QL Few all others negative. what does this mean? Thank you.

I would have the specimen repeated. The epithelial cells hint that this may not have been a true clean catch specimen. RBC, are red blod cells and should not be in the urine.  They can indicate an underlying problem in the urinary tract that is causing the bleeding.

Thank you. I had urinalysis repeated 3 times after that and there was no blood or RBC or WBC. Not sure why it showed up this one time.. My doctor/urologist said that it's common to have microscopic hematuria even in healthy people occassionally.
