Meat, dairy may up prostate cancer risk
A new study suggests that eating meat and dairy products may increase the risk of prostate cancer. Researchers from Oxford University examined the results of tests on nearly 9,000 men and found that those who had higher levels of a hormone called Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) were up to 40 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer. Experts say previous studies have found that men who eat diets full of meat, cheese, and butter may have higher than normal IGF-1 levels.
