Avodart found to reduce prostate risk

A large clinical trial has found that the drug Avodart reduces the risk of prostate cancer. The study of 8,100 men who had elevated PSA levels found that Avodart (dutasteride) reduced the risk of all biopsy-detectable prostate cancer by 23 percent over four years when compared to a placebo. The study's authors say they did not find a higher incidence of high-grade tumors, which is a problem that previously plagued rival drug Proscar.  Read full story >
