Obesity increases the risk of prostate cancer recurrence

Men who are obese have a greater risk of a prostate cancer recurrence, no matter their race, a new study has found. Previous research seemed to indicate that black men were most at risk from obesity-related cancer recurrence, but researchers at Duke University say obesity leads to worse cancer in white men as well. Scientists say the key may be that fat is associated with higher estrogen levels and lower testosterone levels, which may play a role.
