HRT may raise death risk for men with heart disease

Men who have heart disease and are diagnosed with prostate cancer may be at an increased risk of death if they take hormone-replacement therapy (HRT), a new study has found. Researchers at Harvard found that men who'd had a previous heart attack or heart failure were more likely to die if they received HRT than their peers who had no underlying heart problem--even if the course of treatment was relatively short. Experts say that doctors should be particularly aware of this risk, and may want to let it dictate whether or not a man should be given HRT at all.
