Shock therapy may treat ED

Shockwaves directed at the penis may be a long-term treatment for erectile dysfunction caused by low blood flow, Israeli researchers say. The treatment appears to trigger the growth of new blood vessels from old ones--a factor that could reverse some types of ED. In the study of 20 volunteers, scientists applied low-level shock waves for three minutes at a time for three weeks. At the end of the study, 15 of the men had dramatic improvement in symptoms. Researchers say further studies are needed, but they point out that the treatment is not painful and has no side effects.  Read full story >
