Stress From Prostate Cancer Diagnosis Can Be Fatal

A Swedish study has found that the stress of a prostate cancer diagnosis contributes to an increased risk of heart problems and even suicide. Researchers looked at statistics on almost 169,000 patients and found that the risk of a cardiovascular event in the year following diagnosis was approximately three times higher for men who had been diagnosed with prostate cancer than men without prostate cancer. The researchers also found that the risk of suicide was higher than normal in the first week after diagnosis compared with healthy men.
