Scanner Helps Pinpoint Prostate Tumors

Researchers say a new imaging technique shows promise at helping doctors pinpoint where in the prostate a tumor is located. The technique uses magnetic resonance spectroscopy to scan the biochemistry of prostate tissue, rather than the structure of tissue. Experts say this experimental method could help cut down on the number of men who undergo "blind" prostate biopsies, and may help determine whether a tumor is fast-growing or one that is unlikely to be dangerous in the long-term.
