Has anyone noticed flare-ups are worse just before your period?

My RA started just as I was getting into menopause ... now, there's a period!  I had doodled around with hormone replacement but no, that doesn't reverse it, unfortunately.  .  .  the hormones seem to give the muscles more energy to go into spasm!   Ah, the unfairness of life!

Absolutely, mine definetly gets aggravated at that time. It has actually set off a flare once for me that lasted about 10 days. I had to see my rheumy for extra attention, meaning lots of steroids, I could not even get out of bed for 2 days without assistance. I could not go to the potty or shower without help either, it was bad. I do hurt much much more during that week, so I just automatically know now not to make plans for that week. Before RA I had regular periods like most women, normal maybe a motrin or pamprin the first day for the cramps.

Thanks so much! Was wondering if it was just me! Talked to my Reumy about it but he acted as if I was crazy. Take methotrexate, tried Enbrel and am now on Remicade. Thought we had it under control but meds only work for about a year and a half then have to change things up again. Am making an appointment for hormone level test. Wondering if menopause is here (yuk)! I've been having major flare ups for the last 4 months. They are coming closer together and are more intense. I too have to have help with daily living things. Am afraid of whats coming next! The pre-menstraul thing is so out of control, its all I can do to get out of bed. I've never felt pain like this in my life, and my pain tolerance level is very high! Thanks again for your insight. I really do appreciate it!

My flares seem to occur after my period! And I'm having a flare now! It started Friday and is continuing into today! It's raining here, and damp, which makes matters worse!
