Today was my 4th week (dose) of Methotrexate. I was feeling glad that in a few weeks I might start seeing a difference. The pain has been managable but I have not been sleeping that great and my fingers are doing weird stuff mostly at night. My middle finger goes in a flexed postion as soon as I am resting it. Like a claw. The tendons get tight and it is painful to staighten it. It usually takes several hours to straighten out. I notice this also starting in my left hand and my thumbs are catching like what I have read about trigger finger. I noticed my first dose (4 pills) of Methotrexate made me not feel like eating. I was not sick it just took my appetite away. I thought that was a good thing since I am over weight and want this weight off. Then I notice that I seemed to be getting my appetite back. Today when I was filling my three pill cases up and writting a list of prescription I need to refile next week, I noticed I had more Methrotrexate left in my bottle. When I counted them I discovered for the last two weeks I have not taken 4 pills. I only took one each week. How could I be so stupid and then do it two weeks in a row. I am sure it is just like starting at week one again. What am I going to tell my doctor next Friday when I see him? The thing is I take 2 percriptions for blood pressure (one twice a day the other once a day, tummy pills once a day, Lovastatin for lowering cholesterol at night, folic acid, Actonel for my bones once a week, and my vitamins and calcium. I never forget my pills. I just really messed up.

Hi Carol,
I have noticed that I too, have some lapses in short term memory and fuzzy thinking at times since getting RA. I gave myself a scare once when I came up 4 pills short on my Methotrexate..(discovered ten min later that I had put them in a pill organizer) I thought I had taken too many. I struggle some weeks counting my pills over and over to make sure I have not messed up.
I would not wait until Fri of next week ,but would call the doctor's office (like Mon) and discribe your symptoms. The doc might also want to change/add a med because of your new symptoms. As for you "really Messing up",dont beat yourself up so much over it. The real important thing is that you didn"t overdose yourself with the methotrexate as that can be extreemely dangerous.
What I have decided to do, because of my memory lapses, is to have a family
member double check what I put in each of my daily dose boxes... Now if I could just figure out how to not be so exhausted....Take care and let us know how it turns out...Mel
