Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 12:33 AMThanks for the heads-up on the site regarding the body temp. regulation! Gosh, I'll bet a person can find almost anything in that list! I guess I had been to that site before, but I apparently didn't look in the right area. I found the symptom in there this time though. You are quite observant! I have an appointment with my Rheumatologist tomorrow, so together we will be able to work out what we want to do as we move forward.
I appreciate your help and great outlook on things! Hang in there! Sincerely,.......

Friday, April 11, 2008 at 04:57 PMHello I was on remicaide for about 5 years and it got wear it wore off beefore infusion I was maxed out on 10 mg .kg and once monthly..so after alot of reasearch and some thinking it over went on orencia it has been doing good for me for 6 months now..Dr. said they only give it for that long which was news to me told me I would just be taking mtx which I have been on for some time now and I said I don t think so ..can t up my mxt cause of side effects and need more than that she asked of fellow Dr s and told her some other patients were taking it for an additional 6 months.. Have been good on it..the remicaide was a life saver and really helped..wish thhings would come along which continued to work without resistance being built up..dread the thought of rituxan but hey since it would be only every 6-8 months may be a blessing even though nothing new out yet ..the pipeline is still open..any thoughts??re: taking orencia 6 months now

Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 09:35 AMI'm not sure what you mean,....can you clarify? Are you saying your doctor only will give you Orencia for 6 months? I have had it for 8 months now,.....hmmmm. Not sure if I'm understanding what you are saying or if my Doctor and your Doctor understand something differenty? I am under the impression you can continue on Orencia until it no longer works or unless your body has a negative reaction to it,.....but I don't know that for sure,....just my impression. I feel much better now,....my doctor and I figured out the body temp. regulation problem was a by-product of my going off my anti-depression meds,....Effexor XR,....even though I went off them very slowly. The orencia is working great for me and I hope you will find you are able to continue. Best wishes,.......

I am sorry you are having so many problems with the Orencia, and I definitely understand your decision to switch gtom the Remicade. I haven't actually been on the Orencia, but it is the one that I have chosen to be on when I can afford it. I have, however did a lot of research about it (It's something I love to do, especially with my medications!). I know that headaches are a side effect, but if they become severe you should call your doctor. I found a site for you that tells a little bit about it:
http://www.drugs.com/orencia.html
As far as the internal body temperature is it more like hot/cold flashes, or chills like you have a fever? It is is chills then I would definitely call my rheumatologist.
If it is indeed your internal body temperature, it is a side effect of Orencia. I have found a site that has a very cpmplete list of side effects, and feeling cold and/or hot is one of them. The site is in pdf form though, but here is the link:
http://www.bmscanada.ca/upload/File/pdf/products/ORENCIA_E_PM_4%20Jan%2008_APP_CLN.pdf
I hope this helps, and I also hope you get to feeling better. Please keep us updated on how you are doing, and how the Orencia is working for you. Good luck and best wishes!
