Frustrated

By sunshinegal43oh Friday, June 25, 2010

I have had it with my Rhuematologist. She thinks if she treats my pain that she's "not treating the disease, RA." When I'm in pain or having a flare and see her, this is what she tells me. It's so maddening! I'm waiting to get in to see a pain management specialist, but I can't see him until 7/13.

I think it's crazy that a Rhuematologist won't treat all facets of RA. I mean, I'm doing much better on Methotrexate and Enbrel, but I still have pain. And on those pain days I just want something that will make it go away so I can function!

I just can't understand why some doctors shy away from narcotic pain relievers- sometimes I feel like some junkie when I ask for something for pain!

I am in the same boat!! I know how you feel, I have never had a rheumie prescribe any pain meds for me.  I am currently awaiting hip replacement and was told if I wanted pain meds I would have to go to the ER for any kind of narcotics.

It is aggrevating as hell how they make you even feel like a junkie.  How can I be a junkie when I can't get anything.

I understand that treating the symptoms is not treating the disease, but it is the symptoms that make our live miserable.  Quality of life, duh!!!!!  Right now all I want to be able to do is clean my house!!  I can't even image cooking and cleaning both on the same day because I would be in the bed for 4 days!!

And I have been venting about this for a few days on Facebook too!!!!!!
