I don't know about anyone else .... but I am exasperated when trying to find something to wear on a regular basis. Yes I know that I have certain restrictions due to my prior auto accident way back in 1986, but seriously ... has anyone ever had issues in trying to figure out what to wear when my ankles are flairing and my hands/wrists won't move or have any strength to pull on my socks ...
I have to wait for my hubby, Steven to help with putting on any pantyhose or delicate stockings .. talk about embarrassing
although I think the little devil likes that part ... lolol
....
I just hate having to ask him to help ... to ask anyone to help .... and now I have to ... getting dressed .... designing something to wear that not only looks good but is easy to put on ... Does anyone else have several sizes of shoe widths because you don't know which shoes will fit?? Does anyone else love the idea that they can't wear the high-heels like we did before RA arrived??
How about this .... it's winter ... so you have to dress warm .... but then due to RA and the medications I have to take, I start to spritz ....
!!!
Too hot ... too cold .... too swollen ... too tired ... this outfit might look good but I can't put it on until Steven helps ... tired of being tired .....
*I know this doesn't have anything to do with clothing ... but this is just another thing that makes me scream ....
*Last night we were supposed to groom two of our show dogs for upcoming shows this weekend ... we only have so much time to get things done .... we had worked on the dogs over the weekend .... and I was feeling pretty good ... UNTIL ... last night ... when I had the strength of a wet noodle .... I exhausted myself over the weekend and it caught up to me ... Monday ...
.... I was so hoping I had one more night of strength left ... but it was off to bed early and sleep/rest today ... we will try again tonight ... We discussed which dog we might not take if I can't get him groomed just perfectly ... sigh ... constant compromise .... constant change .... just once.... I would like to have all things go as they are planned ..... lol .... Oh heck ... what am I complaining about ... lol ... That's Life ... isn't it ... and I should listen to myself when I tell others .... Always Have A Plan B! .....
Ok back on subject .... clothing and dressing issues
It would be lovely if someone with RA and other immune disorders would design clothing, underclothing and shoes/socks with beauty and flair .... but easy to put on and live with!!
Just my thoughts ..... anyone else have issues with day to day clothing wear ....??

I understand totally how you feel. When I was reading your story it was like reading my own!! LOl I was having the same trouble mostly with shoes every pair I wore was so uncomfortable so I went a bought a pair of fur lined crocs not big on fashion statement because they are not a pretty shoe. But it was the best thing I did!!!! they are wonderful!!! And for the most part I am so tried of trying to find something that looks nice because I hurt so bad I decided to just go with comfort. Now if they could just make them look a little nicer with a heel!!LOL What type of RA medicine do you take? If you dont mind my asking? Please keep in touch and let me know how things are going.
I gave up on fashion shoes long before I had RA because my feet were hurting. I've been wearing for years, prescription orthotics that require a deeper shoe, and am blessed (or stuck) with a couple pairs of New Balance 926/927s. That's it - that my shoe! I can sometimes wear a pair of heavy-duty Timberline trail sandals for a short period of time, but heels? The only heels I have are on my feet! (LOL) I will probably attend my daughter's wedding (whenever they get around to it - they've been engaged for 4 1/2 years!) in my New Balance clunkers (that feel wonderful) and a long dress or - hmmn, remember palazzo pants?
Re: clothing. Found this: Silvert's Disability Clothing Also, I remember seeing somewhere on the web there is someone who has designed clothes for people in wheelchairs (she's in one herself and got frustrated). Here is one, but not what I was trying to find...Also, I think I saw a JCPenney catalog for people with some disabilities. That may not be classy enough for some people, depends on your style & situation... There is even a site where you can get patterns (if you can find someone to do you up in fabric that will be your choice! or if you sew yourself...)
