Thursday, June 04, 2009 at 02:36 PMThanks ... lol ... yep those Jacks are tough little buggers and NOT for the faint hearted ... lol ... These two are my first that I have raised since they were dropped off at 6.5 weeks old and I have 25 years of experience breeding, training & showing dogs ... they can wear a person OUT ....
BUT like I tell everyone ... one should know about the breed .. and what they were here to do in their lives ... all my dogs have jobs ... Since we live in the country and only have 1 acre fenced in ... there are 40+ acres being farmed that are not fenced in ... all sorts of vermen can crawl through our fencing ... that's were my Terriers come in!!
I am in awe of their tenacity ... and their strength .. their endurance ... NO .. let me correct that .. I am jealous ...I wish I had half of what they do ... but the big payback for me ... not only are they in charge of mouse patrol ... but they keep me hopping and not laying about .. (which is something I could do very easily) ... they keep me laughing .. they are so funny ... they don't run, they POUNCE and SPRING ... it is AMAZING to watch! Unfortunately many people get JRT's and think they can have a cute little dog in a small area with little exercise ... and all will be happy .... But what really happens ... without proper exercise and an outlet for their endless energy ... they will invent all sorts of way to TERRIERIZE the house .... leaving many people to get rid of them! Out here in horse country ... with farms abounding ... JRT's are part and parcle of most homes!! They are compact ... don't eat much ... travel well ... tougher then nails ... very loyal to their owners and just typical Terriers!
You should look around our website to see my husband's show dogs ... he built gorgeous private quarters on the lower level of the house for his doggies (my doggies too) .. www.mysticgrove.org ... I'm the one in the wedding dress (don't ask how much medications I took to stay upright the day of our wedding .... lol)
Like people with a large family ... that's us .... the Terriers are not listed on the website ... don't ask me why ... I will have to ask my husband about that ... lol ... but they keep his show dogs hopping for sure!
Have a great day!

Hi!
Brad
Friday, June 05, 2009 at 01:26 AMThat was great to read! I love my dog! We have always had Dobermans or German Sheperds. This time around we rescued a mutt from the pound. We had her one day and found out she had Parvo, the pound wanted to put her to sleep.......couldn't do that! We took her to our vet and 10 days of intensive care later she made it through! She is only 40 pounds, a little dog to us! Soon after she reached one year and calmed down from the dreaded puppy stage I was dx'd with RA. She has been such a blessing! Calmed down and is daddys girl BIG time! checks on me all the time, sleeps with me......she is my baby! When I have a rough day, she is with me, when I feel better she is ready to ROLL! I understand about poop patrol! Been there, do that!
Thanks for your post!

That was a nice read! Even though it involed dog poo, lol. I love dogs. We have a
pekingnese.
I just have one question...how do you keep up with 2 Jack Russell's? I guess like the one's out there who have RA and children-i don't know how they do that either! Me and my pekingnese Brandy-was around a little Jack Russell one day, for about an hour-and they are wonderful dogs, but my are they hyper! Me & Brandy was so wore out after that visit...we had to take a nap after that, lol.
