Ok ... I think I left off with going to the Casinos after my first surgery ... didn't win ... but did well enough ... lol .... a few weeks later the final surgery ... they knocked me out for this one, after asking me my name and what I was in the hospital for gazillion times (evidentally something they do now in the hospital) .... I must say, that is the BEST 45 minute nap I had in a long time .... but once they were done ... they sent me to my room and on antiobiotics/ via IV for the next 48 hours.
Two days later I was bailed out of the hospital ... once home, I was given strict orders ... Stay In Bed ... Don't Get Out of Bed except for going to the bathroom ... Use your crutches ... I followed doctor's orders ..... (end of part 3)
Part 4 ...
After learning the fine art of staying in bed and not going crazy all summer long ... I was finally allowed to get out and about ... having to build up my stamina again ... leg muscles and such ... the plastic surgery and skin graft healed well ... but my body had gone to jello ....
During the Months of August/Sept. I pushed myself to get into some sort of shape ... not hard body kick butt shape ... just not too squishy body shape ...lol ... I decided to enter my Rescue Scottie, Sarah in Veterans Obedience and Rally at the Scottish Terrier Club of America's National Show .... Oct. 2 .. we competed ... earned second places in both Rally and Obedience ... not too bad for an 11 year old girl .. eh?
BUT .... just when I thought I was making progress ... Part 5 started ...
I was extremely exhausted after that show ... Steven told me to rest on Sat/Sun ... which I did .. but things got worse ... I could barely walk 4 feet without plopping into a chair and trying to catch my breath ...
When Steven got home from work that Monday, Oct. 5th ... he was NOT happy and insisted that I go to the ER .... which, being a stubborn Scot ... I didn't .. but I did go to the local triage/health clinic ... within 5 minutes after arriving ... they packed me up in the Ambulance and off I went to Christiana Hospital ER .... after testing all night long .. the doctors were SHOCKED to find out that I had multiple blood clots in both lungs ... and that I was lucky to be alive!!! HOLY CRAP .... I asked the doctors if it could be fixed ... they said it could but I would be admitted in the hospital until they could stabilize everything ...
A week later .. with a bag full of medications and Lovenox shots ... I left the hospital ... and Now I have the pleasure of giving myself shots in the stomach twice a day for 6 months ... Wanna know all the lovely rainbow of colors that are on my bruised stomach now??
But Wait ... there's MORE .....
While I was laid up in the hospital ... several things happened .... one ... my female JRT Rescue who was due to be spayed, but came into season, therefore we had to reschedule her spaying .... well the gal who helped us with the dogs ..... kinda let her out with my Show Sheltie Boys .... ...... once I was up on my feet I noticed that she was getting wider .... then eventually she looked like she swallowed a football sideways ... needless to say the xray showed 5 puppies ... who were born this past Saturday .... and guess what ... they do NOT look like Jack Russell Terriers ... they look like Smooth Coated Sable & White Shelties ....

I've been looking for the follow-up to the story that finally brought it home to me that immunosuppressants need to be taken seriously (thanks for that, by the way). However, as I'm reading the update, my jaw moved closer and closer to the floor - good lord, woman! You've certainly had a rough time. Glad to hear that you came through it in one piece (sort of) and hopefully will remember that should something happen again, going to the emergency rooms sooner rather than later is a good idea. Also, congrats on the puppies - despite their mixed origins and the surprise factor, there is nothing that doesn't get better with puppies.
