Last summer, I journeyed through South America on an amazing trip that fell over the anniversary of my first RA symptoms.  It was my little way of telling my RA to shove it. This year, I am embarking on another bold trip that might even top last year’s: I am off to Egypt and Jordan to see ...

Good for you!!!  I have had RA for 15 years and I just retired.  I had always planned to travel when I retired but was concerned about going to many places (due to exposure to disease, pollution, etc.).  You are inspiring me!!!  I have been working out at the gym 4 days a week, go to yoga 3-4 times a week and have recently started Qigong.  I am feeling more and more like I am up for travel.  I will eagerly await your report.

I was very relieved to read Sara's blog about her travels.  I was diagnosed with RA 4 months ago and already feeling very good due to the meds and my exercises.  I take good care of myself and it's paying off already.  I'm glad to read that someone else is feeling good enough to travel and live the life she wants.  I think it's very important to pursue those goals and not let this disease hold you back.  Sara, you enjoy every minute of it and even though I don't have quite the same goals I"m happily pursue my own!!

WFe just got back this past Sunday from camping at Higley flow State Park, we spent the week there, most of the week was really good except fo last two nights, my back was not wanting to relax, I had taken my tramadol whichI take at night adn take rapid release Tylenol in the day time, I went walking around  the park, spent ti me down at boat dock and tok some pictures, this is our third  year at Higley, adn it didn't rain everyday like it did earlier in the summer which was a relief for me as when it was either humid or damp my joints really hurt, and the constant change earlier in summer didn't help even with the pain pills, so any one that has Aritiri tis that wants to travel more power and enjoy every minute of your trip. I am chartreuse with envy - seeing the pyramids has always been a dream of mine (but I suspect they're not terribly wheelchair accessible). Have a wonderful time - I'm looking forward to seeing a picture or two when you come back.

Sara - Good for you - I love your attitude.  You just have to keep doing what you've always done.  Over the past decade that i've had RA, I've skied every winter weekend, and 8 times went to Europe for a 2 week ski trip and skied every day that the weather allowed.  I refuse to let this thing get in the way of doing the things I want to do.  ok, so I can't party all night and ski all day anymore, but I think that at my age, I wouldn't be able to do that anyways!!

enjoy you trip - sounds really terrific.

I'm sure you are quite aware of this, but the Dead Seas is supposed to be one of the few proven alternative treatments of RA !  Dead Sea  I am very curious to hear if you also found a significant improvement in your symptoms.  Perhaps there should be an RA club that takes groups of people to the Dead Sea for a good soak.

Good going Kiddo. I've had RA for 27 years and not a light weight case.  However, throughout that time I've been to Brazil, Chile, Peru Egypt, Greece, Israel and have actually lived an adventuresome life...because my spirit is adventuresome.  The RA is a pain but overriding it is just a part of life.  It's called push out...rest...adventure, sleep...do whatever it takes.  i also brought my "gold" to Chile and had the docs there inject it.  Now with newer drugs, it's easier..I'm on Orencia injected once a month...It's OK.  You still are who you are and you need to live it as much as you can.!!!
