My mother had had RA for 10 years. She was on Celebrex until she developed artial fibrillation. She then went to Remicade for a couple years and then started getting fungal sinus infections. They said this was caused from the Remicade and that class of medications. They said this was a serious infection so she cannot be on any of those medications. She has been on methotrexate for the 10 years too but has had kidney damage when the dose is too high. She was on 4 and now the dr wants to increase it to 5 and possibly up till 8. The dr. said this is her only chose for medication now with a pain killer. I can't believe there is not another choice for her with all the new meds coming out all the time. Can someone help me. She has to be on something due to the crippling effects and pain.

Dear Pjbrad,
Thank you for joining our community and submitting a SharePost. I'm very sorry to hear about your mother's health problems.
The best person to discussion treatment options with is you mother's doctor. However, I encourage you to seek a second opinion if either you or your mother is uncomfortable with your current care.
In the meantime, I've pulled together some information about different drugs available to treat RA.
Also, here is a complete list of common drugs used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Katherine
