6 Vitamins for Rheumatoid Arthritis Health

By LivingRheum Monday, June 22, 2009

The most commonly deficient vitamins for people dealing with rheumatoid arthritis are vitamin C, vitamin B6, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin D, vitamin B12 and vitamin E.  It is preferable to get these vitamins in your diet however if that is not possible then supplements can be used.   There are many reasons that people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are deficient in these nutrients many of which are the treatments for the disease.  To read more...http://www.livingrheum.com/2009/06/08/6-vitamins-for-rheumatoid-arthritis-health/

Hi there, maybe you can answer my question-and maybe not, but here goes...Why is it some people can't take certian vitamins-i'm one of those people! I can take c vitamins & calcium, but not B vitamins. I have tried many over the years. I cannot take multi-vitamins or B's I take folic acid with my methotrexate..and it makes me very tirerd, and i have tried to take 4 at once to get caught up..when i have forgotten them-and then it does somthing to my system, and causes me to feel depressed! That's what the multi's and B's do for me. I hope you can tell me why.

Sorry Cheryl I really have not heard of depression and B vitamins. Have you asked your doctor for help on this? Maybe your rheumatologist can help.

I'm NOT depressed...i'm saying...it is when i take the vitammins that it depresses me for that day, and then it is gone! So no..i'm not depressed. I have heard that other people with autoimune problems cannot take certain vitamins. I heard someone who has Lupus say the same thing. No mistakes...i'm not depressed ubless i take the vitamins B and Multi-it never fails-when i take them!

B vitamins can affect your hormone levels, the reason they are sometimes prescribed for women on birth control pills.  Normally they balance the levels when they are out of whack...perhaps that is the effect you're experiencing.

Oh...how interesting! That makes total sence, i couldn't take birth control pills either b/c the same thing, i tried them very breifley and they made me cry & cry, so i was off of them right after that real quik.  So in other words-my levels are already balanced with out them right? And when i take them they are unbalanced?
