It's all in the footgear!

By bucko27 Sunday, April 25, 2010

I've been wanting to increase my exercise for obvious reasons but have been avoiding walking (running is out of the question!) as it is hard on my joints.  I have been swimming and riding my bike whenever I can, but there is nothing like the convenience of just opening my front door and going for a daily walk.  And that is exactly what I have been doing of late.  I only walk about 20 minutes a day so as not to overdo it.  I also have a very special pair of walking shoes.  Actually they are a high topped hiking shoe put out by NIKE with an air cushioned heel that absorbs the shock of walking.  With these on, I can do my daily walk and it doesn't have a lasting effect on my day (<-- Think not sore and achy)

I wore the wrong shoes the other day and spent the rest of the day regretting my poor decision.  It is the little things that can make a victory in the never ending battle to defeat RA. I am feeling stronger and obviously the calories burned are a big help to my health and well being. I have been doing this for well over a week and so far so good! I'll be looking for some of you out there in the days ahead :-) Just make sure you have a great pair of walking shoes...even if they make you look dorky!

Still in the Game!

I always said that you know you've grown up when you care more about comfort than style! Smile

So glad to hear you've found shoes that work for you and that they are helping you enjoy the outdoors!

Nice to see you posting again.
