How do I explain fatigue to my boyfriend...he's not getting it!

I am a 29 year old who has been living with RA for 7 years. I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years and have been flare-up free...until now. He doesn't get why I'm so tired all the time and have no energy even after getting a full night's rest. I am currently in a very bad flare up and frustrated that the man I love can't support me through it. I have tried to explain RA but he's not getting it. Any suggestions would be VERY much appreciated!

It is sometimes hard for people to understand anything unless it is happening to them personally. That is very normal. I found that sharing other peoples experiences with RA helps. In other words, read to him some entrees from other RA patients that have similar symptoms as yourself. This may help them realize that it is not just in your mind, that it is the reality of what people with RA live with. Good luck and be patient with him :)
