Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 05:29 PMI am 42, the last 2 summers here in florida have been miserable in pain. I believe I am developing arthritis. I have arthritis pain meds. When the summer storms, heat, humidity for the summer come our way. I know the pain will and misery are on its way. The most intelligent of all scientist do not have to prove to me weather has something to do with arthritic pain. My pain has proven it to me.Thats the cheapest and proven diagnosis. Im looking to sell my home here after 14 years, and deciding what best for my health and future.

weather
Carl
Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 02:51 PMWithout a doubt. If the barometric pressure drops, I am in agony, sometimes to the point where I can't walk. Weather in the fall and spring are the worse in Chicago, because fronts come through constantly.
Just the other night, I (and the weather) was fine till around ten, then started hurting so badly I couldn't sleep. The next morning I woke to really bad weather.
I don't keep up with the weather forecasts, but it always is reflected in my joints.
My doctors used to dismiss it when I told them about. Now, my doctor tells me he gets very busy when storms come through, ha. Guess they are accepting it as truth by now.

Weather and RA
Mark in Alabama
Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 12:58 PMMy father, close friend, and I all have RA. I was told by my doctor that there was no science proving that weather had an affect on RA. I decided to do my own study. The three of us talk about when we have more pain than usual. It can vary between us at times but one thing for certain, when a significant weather event occurs, we all experience higher levels of pain. I am glad to see that research is being directed toward this topic. Any additional insight into how RA works can help all of us in the long run.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 11:05 AMI know the weather affects me. I live in the Midwest, and when I wake up and can not move because of the pain, there has always been a severe drop in the temp.
For the last 3 years during the month of January, I have been docked. It is because of missing work due to my rheumatoid. That means, I have depleted all my time, sick, personal, and vacation before dock status.
I am seriously considering asking for temporary disability during the cold months, but I don't know if I would be allowed. I need to work for at least 8 to 10 more years so I can get my retirement and my health insurance, which we all know is very important.
I have NEVER considered going on full time disability, and really need and want to work. I feel that if I am allowed to take a hiatus', so to speak, during the cold weather, which is also our slow time at work, then I would be better able to perform my duties the rest of the year, and maybe even be able to accumulate some sick time.
Does anyone out there know anything about this?
Mostly just venting, but this is a REAL and true situation!

I have found that the weather does affect me. If it is cold I really hurt and I keep a heating pad at work, and I usually hurt just before it rains. I remember my mother saying she knew when it was going to rain because she was hurting. I use to think she did not know what she was talking about. But now I feel it and
know she was right.
