And it's a two way street. I've written before about the importance of having good communication with one's physician and other health care providers. That can mean keeping a journal of disease activity and responses to medication, preparing a list of questions and topics in advance to take to appointments, and advocating for yourself for changes in medication, or to get access to therapy services, splints, work station modifications, home care equipment, etc. It also means being active in the arthritis community, including sites like Health Central, reading about RA news and seeking support from others. So as we think about resolutions for the new year, perhaps better management of drug treatment and overall health can be a goal for us all in 2009 and beyond.
