Can You Swallow This?

I was smiling in recognition as I read this. I couldn't swallow pills either when I first got RA and to this day, I get queasy when I smell fake cherry flavour - it reminds me of the terrible pink liquid I had to drink before I figure out how to swallow pills.  And now it's no big deal.  Still can't dry swallow the wee bastards, though...

OMG! I cudnt help but laugh out loud as i read ur post. i hve had to drink ayurvedic potions for 3-4 years until i moved onto homeopathy. oh sweet jesus! the colour of those meds are black and they taste like nothing else on this planet earth. there ws this one time when an extreme treatment called "snehapanam" ws administered to me. they take clarified butter, medicate it with these black yuck tasting meds and give it to me to gulp. they were so sure that patients wud puke, that they always had a bucket and a lemon !. oh and they literally starve u, so that the medication digests. u get one meal, with practically nothing in it - just rice porridge with a pinch of salt.

oh boy ! i remember crying on the 7th day and begging my doctor to stop giving me that.  however, i also remember feeling completely wonderful by the end of the ordeal.

can i go thru it all over again? oh, god forbid, no.

oh, forgot to tell u tht i had to drink one whole glass of castor oil with *ughhh* black potion in the morning coz they wnted to clear my stomach. u bet it did, with a vengence!! Hahaaa :-). If RA teaches u anything, i think the first lesson is Tolerance (yeah with a capital T).

I know. It dawned on me when my 1-year-old niece thought I was swallowing a box of Smarties. Now I do a party trick whenever I have a house guest. I swallow one at a time but without water. Its entertaining to see the look on their faces - especially those people who say: 'Oh, I can' never take a headache tablet....' NB: I was one of them before I was diagnosed. What RA teaches you....
