Friday, September 12, 2008 at 04:12 AMThanks! I've only been taking the Methotrexate for three and a half months. I'm not feeling like its working that well for me anyway. I'm allergic to Plaquenil too. What will be my next option????? Who knows! What are you taking? Have you had difficulty with your med's too?
Thanks again for your support! It really does help!!!

Friday, September 12, 2008 at 09:30 AMThere are so many drugs out there but all are pretty nasty. There are things like Enbrel and Remicade but again, very nasty side effects. I hope they can come up with something new soon without so many side effects.
I don't take anything as I do not have medical insurance and can't afford to see a doctor. I don't qualify for any medical assistance of any sort and believe me-I've tried all the avenues. I just have to deal with the pain and deformity that is going on.

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 06:25 PMThat is absolutly terrible that you can not get any kind of assistance for your RA! I'm so sorry about that!!! My heart goes out to you having to suffer without any medicine what so ever.
Have you tried for disability? There are companies out their who you can hire to get your social security/disabiltiy for you. Please let me know if you have tried this avenue or not. I have a friend who was unable to get her SS until she hired a company to "get it for her", and they did! The continually resubmit your paper work in a way that works apparently!
I can get the name of this company if you would like the information. Please let me know. RA is not an easy thing to take. Let alone taking it without the medications that should be available to everyone!!!

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 07:23 PMI keep telling my husband that I want to apply but he never seems to listen to me. I cannot drive now with the RA being so bad so he has to drive me. I'm stuck! I live in a very small town and don't have any friends yet as we haven't been here to long. I know that they will want me to see a doctor and I can't afford one. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. The doctor that orginally dianoised me is deceased and I was never able to get my records from him and the hospital doesn't have them either.
It's not easy to put up with all this crap but I guess I'm going to have to. Not much I can do at this point. I sure hope that whomever takes the office of the presidency will do something to help people like me. There are probably 50,000,000 people like me in this country.

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 08:04 PMCan you contact your areas assisted living, or special services departments? Maybe they can help, or at least direct you to someone who can. You need some sort of assistance with your medical care. Maybe you could start with some "at home care"? Maybe you will qualify! Try searching on your computer for agencies in your state. Let me know if you have found anything. P.S. What state do you live in anyway? I'm in Idaho.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 09:39 AMI live in a very small town in Illinois. I have contacted what agencies we have and there is nothing available. I'm able to care for myself so that's not an issue. Believe me, I've tried everything. Back in New Mexico, I applied for indigent care but the care I got was terrible. Basically a pat on the back and them telling me to find a doctor. I keep hearing that maybe I can find a doctor that will take payments. I haven't found one yet that will do that. They want their money before you even see the doctors. (both states)

Friday, September 26, 2008 at 03:26 AMPull up Lena Andersens (Expert) SharePost from Sept. 24, 2008. Reed the section titled There Is Effective Treatment Available. There could be some information there for you to check out of help with medical expences and RA medication!!! Let me know if you find anything useful.
How are you doing, by the way? I've just come back from camping in the Teton National Forest. It was great. We even saw a young bull moose when we were walking in to an area to see the beaver dams and to fish for brook trout. I am paying the piper now though. I feel like death warmed over! Some times we just have to go ahead and go for the gusto and then pay the price later, or we will never go at all,,..Right?!
Have a great weekend. Let me know how you are feeling.

P.S. Did you write earlier that you enjoyed sewing? I can't remember what kind you said! (I'm at work and its 01:18 am). A person's brain doesen't function well at 01:18am!!! What kind of sewing was it??? I enjoy sewing too. I just recently learned to crochet, and I'm taking a beginner quilting class!

So sorry you are having so many problems with the drugs they are giving you. Methotrexate is really nasty and can cause tumors in the brain. So many of the drugs have such nasty side effects. I hope they can find one that will work for you. Hang in there!
