I was diagnosed with RA almost 3 years ago. Over the last 6 months or so, my feet and ankles are stiff, painful and unable to bear weight when I wake up or if I'm sitting for a while . Once I walk for a few minutes, it slowly goes away, and I can walk normally. What is this? My rheumatologist wouldn't take x-rays. Instead he gave me Celebrex (like I need to take another pill) to see if it helps. Needless to say, it doesn't help. Nothing does. Is this just something I have to live with?
Also, f.y.i., the only shoes I'm able to comfortably wear are Crocs with arches for mild pronation. I am also overweight and 31 years old.

I have the same foot and ankle problem some days are unbarable because of the pain i have it affects walking it dosnt go completely when i walk but it becomes easier.
I was told it was Plantar Fasciitis that i have i have not been diagnosed with RA but i also get stiff knee joints and my fingers and wrists become stiff and painful i was told that my hands are stiff and painful due to carpol tunnel syndrome.
Along with the Hand and foot/ankle and knee stiffness i cannot bend easily due to a back problem which i was told was a weak disc.
These joints are very painful and my feet and hands swell terrible but if i exercise every day the pain reduces i do 40 minutes every morning and evening of light exercise ( i use the wi fit ) very easy work out but it seems to make the joints less stiff and the pain is getting a lot better.
I hope this helps you although i dont have RA i know that the pain is eased also by light exercise.
I puchased a pair of croc flip flop type shoes, I experienced inner ankle pain and heel pain. Both feet were affected so I assume there was not enough support in the shoes. I quit wearing crocs and purchased some Clarks and Merrells. I wrapped my feet and ankles RICE... and have been doing stretches. I also took ibprofen. My right foot and ankle are fine now, but my left is a little slower on the recovery.
I know Crocs have alot of fans, but I wonder if they are too soft and don't offer enough stability. I love the shoes mentioned above, and am slowly getting back in the game.
