I don't know about the acne, since I was in my mid thirties and well past that stage when the disease hit, but I would guess that the increased sex drive is in response to feeling better. Whenever I feel anywhere near human it's almost like an adrenaline rush and I want to do everything I've been missing out on.

i was much older when i got RA, past acne(40) but had no problen since being on methotrexate and for the sex drive possible hang in there you are young .life is still good with RA you have your good days and your bad days, as for the diet my doctor has never said anything about that

unfortunately this is a side effect. I have been on these meds for 23 years and I noticed right away a big difference is my desire to do a lot of things and my skin has aged terribly from it. It is dry and lost the elasticity. Kudos for bringing up a tough topic !

Okay, so I'm not just imagining things! That's comforting. I don't mind the sex drive part but the acne blows. Thanks everybody for your comments! They are always sooo appreciated.

Maybe ask dr. if Folate or folic acid would help?

Hi - I'm not on MTX (had high liver enzymes at diagnosis) but I have read and heard that for some people, folic acid helps to counteract some of the problems of MTX. You should ask your doctor before doing anything, because I don't know if it will slow the good effects as well - but for some people especially if they get mouth sores, etc. folate is a necessity. I'm not sure if it has to be prescribed or OTC but again - either way, check with your doctor first.

It is WONDERFUL that you are seeing improvement in a relatively short period of time. Some people have to try several drugs before they find the right one or comb that helps and doesn't cause problems...

I was 23 when I was Diagonised with RA (28 now). Was put on methot. and my skin freaked out. As for the sex drive it goes up and down with how I am feeling with my RA. When I am feeling good my sex drive increases.
