Does anyone else have ugly veiny fingers when they are swollen? My veins in my hands stand out so big when my fingers hurt. You can see the blue color and can almost grab them like a body builders veins. I actually checked my blood pressure during the real noticable times and its always normal. I'm sure its just the area around the joint pushing them up and out. It also feels very prickly, like hundreds of tiny splinters in my joints along with the normal joint pain when the veins stick up like this.

In my decidedly non-expert opinion, I would assume that if your joints swell, there's increased pressure within the skin, which may make the veins more prominent. Still, since you also have an odd sort ofpain in connection to this, it might be a good idea to give your rheumatologist a call, just run it by them.
Let us know what the doctor says, please?
I asked my gp about the veiny fingers since I already had an appt with her. She said that its like reverse raynauds, which I also have, she said that in the same way my veins constrict when my hands get cold that they are inflamming when hot. She said to pay attention to when it happens and she is sure that I have been outside for awhile or something to raise my body temp. And the prickly feeling is like the buzzy feeling when the veins un-constrict during the opposite or cold raynauds episodes.
