It's me again

By Nan Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Just got back from pt and same old thing, very little movement. I guess its steady as she goes. I do love the corn husk machine though I would love to have one. It blows hot, ground up corn husks all over and around your hands for 10 minutes. It feels like grits or cream of wheat for the northerners in a whirlpool. She let me put both hands in today cause I was so sore. I asked if I could do some little things like paint my toenails and she said NO. I wish she'd give me some kind of time frames for getting mobile or a goal or something but she wont give me an answer when I ask "how long before I can?" Oh well, more lessons in patience.

I'm still here' just been very busy

Hello, Nan,

So great to hear from you!  I guess RA teaches us a lot of things about ourselves, eh?  I've always heard that patience is a virtue.  I'm still working on that one myself! LOL

At least you don't have the pain anymore, right?  I have read that a lot of PT is required after hand surgery, so I guess you are confirming what they all say.  Sorry you can't get out there do what you want to do yet, but your hand should get better and better as the weeks go by. Try not to overdue on your other hand, and let us know how you are progressing.

Best Wishes,

V

corn. husk machine? I've never heard of that! That's fascinating.

I have a button on my fridge that says "patience is such a waste of time" so I'm pretty sure I understand your frustration. It never moves fast enough, take the time it needs instead of the time you need, but think of it as an investment in your later health. Patience now means better later - it's not that you're not doing anything, you're letting your body heal itself the way it needs to.
