About Me

MY name is Alyssa and I am 17 years old. My mother was diagnosed with RA in March of 1995 and I've been taking care of her since she had her first knee replacement when I was 8. Because of this I have had to mature a bit faster than my peers and I also have an extreme interest in the medical field. I am here because since this is my senior year in high school I must do a senior project on a topic of my choice. My topic is Rheumatoid Arthritis: Challenges faced by victims and their families. I wanted to focus on the physical, emoitional and financial challenges, but the internet and book resources on RA are all about the physical effects, not emotional or financial. So I am here to learn about what challenges anyone on this site faces everyday. I would really appreciate your help, and I would love to hear your story.
