I'm sitting here at work, working of course
, and i'm having to staple some stuff together so i can do some minor filing. Now for the past few weeks, I've noticed that whenever I staple my stuff together , the staples get all bent up and never penetrate the 8 pages that I used to be able to staple a fews months back. Then it dawns on me. I CAN'T EVEN STAPLE PAPERS TOGETHER. What used to be a simple task is no longer simple. I certainly can't SQUEEZE the stapler now, and I've tried putting the stapler on my desk and pressing down. *ouch on the wrist*. then I've tried standing up (of course that means dealing with the knee pain now too) and pressing down with the palm of my hands. Ok, we can disprove that theory too. Still hurts. My coworker, whom I"ve worked with for 11 yrs saw me struggling (and he only has one arm...farming accident 35 yrs ago). I muttered under my breath (but loud enough he heard me)..."damn, i can't even work a stapler now". He says casually, "use your foot"....*bling* the light bulb goes on in my head. Now why didn't I think of that. So for the next couple of quotes I have to staple, I used my (painfree) foot. VOILA! it worked. I had to learn from a man with one arm about disability and working around them. He chuckles now when he walks by office and sees my size 10 shoe stapling by papers together. It's saturday so the rest of the people in my office aren't working today, but i can already hear the comments. I know, I know. I've ordered the special stapler that uses no resistance to press, as well as my DR Pilot mechanical pencil. it'll be another week before they come in.....but meantime... my size 10 shoe will work for now! (and here i thought it was cheap staples that bent to easily)
Have a good day !! ~desiree
